UNITED WAY OF GREATER MONCTON AND SOUTHEASTERN NB ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN GOAL

(Moncton, N.B. – September 29, 2015) – The United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick kicked off their 2015 campaign at a luncheon this afternoon at the Delta Beauséjour. It was a fun event, as community members helped announce this year’s campaign theme: We are possibility! Over 500 community members, local business leaders and politicians cheered as the organization unveiled the 2015 goal – $2,295,073.00.

2015 Campaign Chair Lawrence Forbes, Senior Account Manager at Seaholds Investments, took time to introduce the many community members who make the campaign possible each year and talked about this year’s campaign theme. “Our theme for this year’s campaign is #WeArePossibility.  The theme is to get us thinking about how each one of us as individuals can make a difference and that when we unite and come together how powerful that difference can be.”

Our local United Way’s annual fundraising campaign, which primarily runs from September through December, raises money mainly through workplace payroll deduction programs, as well as through individual and corporate contributions and special events. All funds contributed to the United Way Community Fund are invested locally in Southeastern New Brunswick.

Founded in 1953, the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick Region Inc. is a non-profit, charitable organization that brings people and resources together to improve lives in our region. The organization is committed to addressing the root causes of issues affecting communities, families and individuals.

The Kim Halliday Asset Builder Awards is named in honour of former United Way Executive Director and community advocate Kim Halliday, who passed away in 2007. The awards recognize an adult and youth who act in, build and change, their community in a variety of ways.  Noah Benoit was presented with the award for the youth category, while Theresa Theriault was presented with the award in the adult category.

This is the 20th year the Delta Beauséjour provided the wonderful venue for the United Way Kick off and, as in past years, hotel staff volunteered their time to serve at the luncheon, while – for the 16th year – Costco Wholesale donated all food for the meal.  Without the continuous support of such strong community partners none of this would be made possible.

Together, we are possibility.
