December 5, 2013- (Moncton) United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick celebrates the closing of the GCWCC (Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign). This year employees from 43 Federal Departments represented in Southeastern New Brunswick joined together to raise $472, 876.72 for their community.
Brenda Teed, this year’s GCWCC Champion from the PWGSC Pension Centre in Shediac thanked all employees for their generous contributions, “we are lucky to live in such a generous and supporting community that is vibrant and growing. Both United Way and Health Partners are dedicated to creating change in Southeastern New Brunswick, and with [federal employees’] continued contributions [they] too are showing our community that [they] are committed to strengthening our communities.”
This event not only highlighted the great efforts of Federal Employees, but was also an opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of one particular individual, Yves Despres. Mr. Despres has been running a successful campaign in his Government work place for over 20 years. He is committed to his community through the GCWCC, but also in the way he lives his life and through the example he sets every day. From this day forward the Outstanding Employee Campaign Coordinator award for the public service campaign will be known as the Yves Despres Award. The United Way invites you to the United Way Campaign Celebration on February 28th to find out who will be the recipient of this award.
