All Star Coaches recognized

all-star-coaches2November 1st four of our All Star Coaches were honoured with Certificates of Recognition at the Crime Prevention Association Awards Luncheon for their work in this summer’s Wilderness Adventure. These four men,  Kai Gosling, Aaron Shantz, Corey Esson and Richard Babineau are each All Star Coaches in their own right, they are people who see the potential in our boys and who can and want to help and challenge them to see it too!

In May, YOU Turns Strategic Coordinator Kai Gosling and CPO Richard Babineau were looking for a way to keep in contact with several youths already participating in interventions, during the summer. They didn’t want to lose the connection they had started building during the school year through YOU Turns. What they came up with was a Wilderness Adventure. They would take the youth out of doors and into the heart of the woods to camp and develop outdoor skills. They were promoting change in the adolescents through the experiential learning of positive values and building of developmental assets (the good things kids need to succeed). And it worked!

The trip was a great success, and everyone had a great time. The youth are now well on their way to reaching their potential thanks to the commitment of caring individuals like Kay, Richard, Aaron and Corey.

Thanks to the Departments of Social Development, of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, of Wellness and of Justice and Public Safety (Probation), for your sponsorship of this grand adventure.
