MBS Radio Launches 10th Annual Toy Drive For Children & Youth in Greater Moncton & Southeastern NB

Nov. 21, 2009

(Moncton, NB – Nov. 20, 2009) Moncton radio stations 103.9 Max FM, K 94.5 and Choix 99,9 have launched their 10th annual holiday toy drive in support of children and youth in Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick.

“We’re hoping the public will help us make this year’s toy drive a huge success,” says Matt Cacchione, Promotions Director for Moncton’s 103.9 Max FM, Choix 99,9 FM and K94.5 (MBS Radio). “We want to ensure that all children and youth in our community receive something special this Christmas, even though their families may be currently experiencing financial difficulties.”

Toys are needed for boys and girls up to the age of 18. More than 250 children and youth in Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick received gifts from last year’s toy drive.

Those wishing to contribute to the toy drive can deposit a new unwrapped toy for a young boy or girl in the Signway box located near the food court at Dieppe’s Champlain Place.

In addition to support from Signway and Champlain Place, MBS Radio is working with Moncton Headstart, a local non-profit organization providing early family intervention services to young children and their parents to realize their full potential. Moncton Headstart will coordinate distribution of toy drive gifts in Southeastern New Brunswick.

“We’re proud to be working with 103.9 Max FM, K94.5 & Choix 99,9 to help make the holidays a little brighter for children and youth in our region,” says Clare Archibald, Executive Director of Moncton Headstart.

While gifts for young people of all ages are appreciated, Archibald notes that traditionally most donors give items for young children and encouraged the public to also consider older children and teenagers when making their purchases (see ideas below).

Gifts received through the radio stations’ toy drive will also be distributed to sick children at the Moncton Hospital and Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Regional Hospital in Moncton.
