Promotion Deemed Huge Success For United Way

Jan. 23, 2009

A unique fundraiser organized by two competing Moncton hotel chains is being hailed an overwhelming success by its beneficiary, the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick Region.

Through a promotion dubbed “Donate While You Doze”, the Hampton Inn and Suites Moncton and the Future Inns Moncton Hotel and Conference Centre raised more than $8,000 for the local United Way during the recent holiday season.

“We’re over the moon by the success of this initiative and extremely appreciative of the hotels’ management for making it a reality,” says United Way Executive Director Debbie McInnis. “These funds will really make an impact in our community by helping our many partner agencies.”

Through their holiday room sale, the hotels contributed $12 of each nightly room rate to the United Way, in support of vital social agencies and programs.

The promotion attracted both local residents who enjoyed a mini family getaway in their own backyard, as well as many out-of-towners.

“The holidays are a time of giving and the Donate While You Doze program allows our guests to turn their stay with us into a giving opportunity that mirrors the season,” said Louis Wilby, Regional General Manager for Future Inns Hotel and Conference Centres. “We look forward to embarking on the promotion again during the 2009 holiday season and raising even more money for the United Way of Greater Moncton & Southeastern NB Region!”

Pascal Pisegna, General Manager of the Hampton Inn and Suites Moncton, agreed.

“The United Way benefits such a vast number of individuals, families and organizations around the region all year long,” he said. “The Donate While You Doze campaign was an excellent opportunity for the guests of the Hampton Inn and Suites Moncton and Future Inns Moncton Hotel and Conference Centre to turn their stay with us into something meaningful for the community. We look forward to working together again during the 2009 holiday season to further the awareness and support of the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern Region.”
