Moncton Esso Among Outlets Participating In Saturday’s Esso United Way Day

Sep. 08, 2008

The sixth annual Esso United Way Day will take place this Saturday, Sept. 13, at 500 Esso sites across Canada, including the outlet located at the corner of Mapleton Road and Plaza Boulevard in Moncton.

“By simply visiting your local Esso this weekend, you’ll be helping people in your community,” says Simon Smith, vice-president of fuels marketing at Esso’s parent company, Imperial Oil. “At Esso, we have long recognized the importance of United Way and we’re delighted to maintain our commitment to this organization from coast to coast. Last year’s one-day event raised more than $150,000 for United Ways across Canada.”

When you fill up your tank Saturday at participating Esso stations, including the Moncton outlet, one cent for every litre of gas pumped and one dollar from each car wash purchased will be donated to United Way. Funds raised at the Moncton station will remain in the region, benefiting the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick.

Money generated from the one-day campaign will be used to support United Way agencies helping youth, families, the homeless and others in need.

“We sincerely appreciate Esso’s efforts in holding this annual United Way Day,” says Debbie McInnis, Executive Director of the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick. “We encourage area residents to drop by the local Esso on Saturday and support this worthwhile initiative.” Last week, the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick launched its 2008 fundraising campaign, unveiling its largest goal to date – $2,075,000. Founded in 1953, the organization supports front-line human care and social programs and services in the community.
