Moncton Hoteliers To Offer Holiday Deal In Support Of Local Charity

Nov. 19, 2008

Two competing Moncton hotel chains are getting into the holiday spirit by teaming up on a room sale that will benefit a local charitable organization.

From Dec. 21, 2008, to Jan. 4, 2009, Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton, 700 Mapleton Rd., and Future Inns Moncton Hotel and Conference Centre, 40 Lady Ada Blvd., will offer a “Donate While You Doze” promotion that will see their nightly standard room rates slashed by 50 per cent to $65 ($95 for a suite), with $12 of each nightly rate going to the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick Region.

Pascal Pisegna, General Manager of the Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton, and Louis Wilby, General Manager of Future Inns Moncton Hotel and Conference Centre, came up with the unique program when they were both based in Fredericton and decided to re-introduce the initiative now that they oversee neighboring properties in Moncton.

“This is a wonderful way to give customers at both hotels a great deal while supporting a vital community organization,” says Wilby. “It’s especially appropriate to be undertaking this during the holiday season.”

Pisegna agrees.

“’Donate While You Doze’ is a win-win-win for the hotels, our customers and the agencies supported by our local United Way,” he says. “This is traditionally a slower time for us so we hope to increase occupancy through this promotion and, in the process, make a generous contribution to the non-profit organization.”

Debbie McInnis, Executive Director of the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick Region, applauded Pisegna and Wilby for their innovative fundraising idea.

“I’m constantly impressed by the ways our corporate partners find to give back to their community,” says McInnis. “We greatly appreciate the support of the Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton and Future Inns Moncton in helping us to improve the lives of those most in need in our region.”

Both Pisegna and Wilby expect the 15-day room sale to attract both local residents who might want to enjoy a mini family getaway in their own backyard, as well as out-of-towners who visiting family and friends over the holidays, or those planning a shopping trip to the vast array of retail stores near the properties. They both anticipate that the sale will also prove popular to those looking for a special New Year’s Eve destination.

Specific features of each hotel will likely attract customers, they note. Future Inns Moncton Hotel and Conference Centre is home to Maverick’s Steakhouse & Grill, one of the city’s top restaurants, while the local Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton offers a spacious indoor pool and waterslide, perfect for family fun.
