Radio Stations Launch Toy Drive For Children

Nov. 17, 2008

A group of Moncton radio stations has launched its annual holiday toy drive in support of children in Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick.

“We’re hoping the public will help us make this year’s toy drive a huge success,” says Matt Cacchione, Promotions Director for MBS Radio, parent company of Moncton’s Lite Rock Magic 104, Choix 99 FM and K94-5. “We want to ensure that all children in our community receive something special this Christmas, even though their families may be currently experiencing financial difficulties.”

Those wishing to contribute to the toy drive can deposit a new unwrapped toy for a young boy or girl in the Signway box located near the food court at Dieppe’s Champlain Place Mall.

In addition to support from Signway and Champlain Place, Magic 104 is working with the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick Region, a local non-profit organization that provides resources to many groups in our region in an effort to build healthy, strong communities. The United Way will coordinate distribution of toy drive gifts to various agencies in Southeastern New Brunswick.

“We’re proud to be working with Magic 104 again this year to help make the holidays a little brighter for youth in our region,” says Debbie McInnis, Executive Director of the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick Region.

Gifts received through the toy drive will also be distributed to sick children at the Moncton Hospital and Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Regional Hospital in Moncton.

Staff at Garage Clothing in Champlain Place are assisting in the initiative by accepting toys destined for the Magic 104 bin and by helping to periodically transport donations to the radio station. For more information, contact Cathy Donaldson, Communications Coordinator, United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick Region, at (506) 858-8600, Ext. 64, or Matt Cacchione, Promotions Director, MBS Radio, at (506) 858-1220.
